How to clear the cache in Internet Explorer 11

Summary

Instructions to delete browsing history/cookies/cache from Internet Explorer version 11. This action will help prevent IE from crashing in the future and also speed up browsing speeds.

Body

There are a few different ways to perform this function. You will find 2 methods below.

1. Clear the cache with a keyboard shortcut

  1. A. Press the [Ctrl], [Shift] and [Del] Key together (do so within an IE window). A Popup-Window opens. "Delete browsing history".
  2. B. Remove all checks despite the selection "temporary internet and websitedata" .
  3. C: Click on the Button "Delete" to empty the browser cache. In comparison to other browsers there is no option to select the time period. You'll delete all cache data.
  4. D: Reload the page.

2. Delete the cache through the "Internet options" in the window menu of the browser.

Alternatively you can access the options also through the main menu of your browser.

  1. A: Click on the cog-symbol  in the upper right corner of the browser.
  3. B: Select the item "Internet options".
  4. C: In the tab "General" you will find a section "Browsing history". When you click on the button "Delete" a new Window opens.
