Wi-Fi doesn't have a valid IP configuration - idea/Lenovo laptop

 
 
 

Symptom

The laptop gets NO NETWORK ACCESS with the yellow exclamation mark. When run Windows troubleshooter, it shows "Wi-Fi doesn't have a valid IP configuration".

Windows 7/8/8.1/10

Workaround

In Windows normal mode, try the followings:

  1. Start Command prompt as administrator
    • In Windows 7, click Start -> All programs -> Accessories. Right-click Command prompt and then click Run as administrator
    • From Windows 8 onwards, press Windows key + X and select “command prompt (admin)”
  2. Type the netsh winsock reset and hit Enter
  3. Type netsh int ip reset and hit Enter. Then reboot the PC
  4. If the problem persists after the reboot, backup your files and refresh Windows
