What do I do if I receive a suspicious email?

Problem/Question

I have received a suspicious email, what should I do with it?

Overview

The IT Security team has deployed a tool to assist in fighting the battle with phishing and malicious emails. A feature/add-in in Outlook enables you to report potential phishing emails with one or two clicks. This document outlines the steps to report emails. The button will appear in the upper right corner of your Outlook client on your workstation. This will not apply to mobile versions of Outlook or other email clients.

PROCEDURE CHANGE:

When you receive suspicious emails in the future, instead of reporting to the help desk or the security team, use this new feature. This will route the email itself and technical information to the security team for research and investigation. This will bypass the help desk ticketing process and will result in a more streamlined response.

Solution

At the top right of your Outlook client you should find an icon that looks like a fish.

Please click this button to being the process. To get additional and detailed information/instructions, please open the attached word document.

These emails will go to our security team where they can be further analyzed.

If you do not have the Cofense Phishing button in your Outlook client, please read the article linked to the right titled "Installing Software from the Ivanti End User Workspace" for instructions on how to get the button.
